Many of us believe in the power of Prayer.

Please enjoy looking around this site to see why many of us appreciate our personal conversations with God. Prayer isn’t complicated and it does not require anyone else but ourself & God.

Share with us your testimony so I can add it to this site. Tell us how God has answered your prayers, or how prayer has helped change your life. Tell us why you believe Prayer works. Let me know how by sending me your story or stories thru text at 1-434-728-0952 or by email at davidgluhareff@gmail.com or trainwithdaveg@yahoo.com .

  • Prayer is no pressure. Prayer is a simple & private conversation with God.

To begin a relationship with God it’s low pressure and not overwhelming. A church can turn you off, a pastor can offend, church people can disappoint, Christians many times mess-up connecting with you…but a conversation with God in the form of Prayer can change your life and let you feel you’re not alone. Prayer can get you the answers you may not be able to find from man or figure out for yourself. Sometimes a simple conversation with God can solve the seemingly unsolvable.

How about having a platform to just read, listen, or watch people speak on how God the Father, Jesus His Son, and The Holy Spirit have touched their lives. No pressure. Real testimonies….well that’s what WhyDoIPray.com is all about.

A relationship with God has a low barrier to entry where you don’t have to read the whole Bible on day one. Initially you don’t have to commit to a Church. You can just simply look around this platform and read about the power of Prayer in many people’s lives. You can see what the scriptures say about Prayer. Why we believe in it. Why it’s so personal, calming, healing, and effective in our lives. Prayer is life changing for so many.

  • God is near when we Pray…the Bible says

“The Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to Him.”

  • Tim feels Prayer often shows him what God wants!

I have found over the years that praying is more about me finding what God wants rather than getting him to give me what I want. Nevertheless, there are often times that what I think I need is indeed what I need.

On one such occasion when I was working at Toys R Us I was very tired and frustrated with the job. It was very stressful and I was not sleeping well. One morning I got up around 4:30 and was praying in that God would give me some sign that this job was where as was suppose to be, that He would give some sign of his love. Within minutes I got a text from my friend Keith that said “Father is not ignoring your pain. Keep doing what you are doing.” I immediate called Keith since he was obviously awake. He said he had this strong urge to send me those very words at that time.

This has happened to me in one form or another many times.

  • Do not be anxious…Pray

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

    2. Philippians 4:6-7

  • Cathy feels loved when she Prays!

I pray, and I never feel more cared for and loved than when 1. Others will pray for me and my family and when 2. God just shows up and answers things that are so small, but tell me so clearly, that I really am the “apple of his eye” and the “sheep of his hand”, like the psalmist says. I have no trouble believing that God is all powerful and COULD do anything, but when he shows up in the mundane of my prayer requests, my knowledge that He loves me and cares about everything I am worried about moves from my head to my heart. I pray because He says I can, and because He answers.

  • The Lord’s Prayer – We’ve used in sports for years

“Our Father, who art in heaven,
    hallowed be thy Name,
    thy kingdom come,
    thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
    And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
    for ever and ever.
    Amen.”

I’ve played semi-pro football as an adult, played youth and teen baseball, basketball, tennis, soccer, football and more sports where we as a team would say this prayer out loud…many times we’d join with our opponents and huddle up peacefully to share in this prayer together and it was always a beautiful experience. Saying this prayer out loud as an adult and a kid made peace between teams, de-escalated tensions, and reminded us we are all God’s children and should love one another.
  • Fear: God has not given us a spirit of fear…

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7

This was one of my favorite verses my Mom gave me as a child when I’d be scared and fear losing my parents. Ever since I’d intertwine this into my prayers for comfort and to calm my fears as a child and still to this day. It works for me to say it out loud to myself in prayer that God has equipped me to deal with fear and I do not need to worry or fear.

In business or stressful life situations I repeat this verse and keep it as part of my prayers to maintain confidence and know I’m strong enough with God’s help and to have no fears.

  • Welcome to Why Do I Pray!

About The Site: Why Do I Pray?

I want this website to show others the power of prayer. I want to share Real-life testimonials of how prayer has helped people around the world. Prayer has been so very important in my life since I was 4 years old. I asked to have Jesus in my life at 4 and never turned back. I’m not perfect, I’m a sinner, I don’t have all the answers about God…but I’ve felt him in my heart since I was 4. I know prayer works and is so powerful. Prayer is a simple conversation between me and God, his Son Jesus, & The Holy Spirit. We do not need an intermediary, no pastor, no priest, no other family member or friend…nope it’s just a conversation between me and my God.

So many others feel the same as me so I’ve wanted to setup a platform to post, document, (later audio & video), make public others reasons about why they pray…why we pray. I want others who may be curious or are questioning God to see what real people like me feel prayer does for us.

Prayer changes lives. Prayer changes circumstances. Prayer lifts us up. Prayer can heal. Prayer offers hope. Prayer can give clarity & direction. Prayer can calm us. Prayer can grow us.
